Founded in 2010 by the Sphinx Organization, the GRAMMY®-winning Catalyst Quartet has toured extensively both domestically and abroad, selling out top U.S. venues including Chicago’s Harris Theater, the Kennedy Center, and Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The New York Times called them “beautiful to watch,” comparing them to “a family in lively conversation at the dinner table: anticipating, interrupting, changing subjects." First and foremost, Catalyst Quartet believes in music’s singular power to unite people across life’s greatest boundaries.

For their second year of Met residency, Catalyst dives deep into The Met's vast collection. They reprise their beloved Lost and Found in the Galleries series, which puts the voices of history's silenced composers into conversation with the Museum's finest works. They also embark on their first collaboration with The Met's Department of Musical Instruments, giving voice to a rare quartet of instruments from 1890s New York.
