Cup with Molded Honeycomb Pattern

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 453

The imprecise "honeycomb" pattern that decorates the surface of this vessel, as well as the off-center placement of the seventeen-petalled rosette on the bottom, indicates that the cup was blown outside the mold, or was "dip-molded," after the design was impressed.
