The Collection
Among its research initiatives, The Leonard A. Lauder Research Center for Modern Art conducts focused study of the Leonard A. Lauder Cubist Collection, which is held by and housed in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Met. This collection currently consists of 86 works of art by the four pioneering Cubists—Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Fernand Léger, and Pablo Picasso—ranging in date from 1906 to 1924.
This resource offers an overview of the collection, with thumbnail images of each work organized by artist. Each image links to the object’s page on the Museum’s collections website, which offers details, interpretative text, and provenance information compiled by Museum staff, Research Center Fellows, and scholars.
