Pregnancy: the soldier’s wife

Printer George C. Miller American

Not on view

This lithograph is the fifth of seven inspired by the murals Orozco painted for the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria in Mexico City between 1923 and 1926. The prints were published by Delphic Studios in New York. The simplicity of the design and the softness of the monochrome lithographic technique beautifully convey the woman’s emotional and physical state. She holds her shawl with her right hand and protectively covers her stomach with her left.
